Standard disability services offices offer basic accommodations — extended test time, note-taking assistance. The schools on this list go much further: dedicated learning centers, embedded coaches, peer mentoring, faculty training, and in many cases programs specifically designed for students with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism spectrum conditions. These schools treat neurodivergent students as an asset, not an accommodation.
🏆 Tier 1 — Exceptional ADHD Programs
Landmark College
The only accredited college in the US designed exclusively for students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism spectrum conditions. Every professor is trained in UDL (Universal Design for Learning). Small classes (avg 6 students), mandatory coaching, and a curriculum built around how neurodivergent brains actually learn. Not a support program — it's the entire school.
University of Arizona
The SALT Center is the gold standard for ADHD support at a major research university. Students receive individualized weekly coaching sessions, strategy instruction, academic monitoring, and peer tutoring — all from specialists trained specifically in LD/ADHD. SALT has operated since 1980 and has a proven track record. Additional fee (~$3,600/yr) but worth every penny.
University of Denver
LEP is one of the most comprehensive fee-based LD/ADHD programs in the country. Students work with dedicated learning specialists, attend weekly coaching, receive priority registration, and access a dedicated study lounge. LEP integrates directly with academic departments so faculty understand student needs. Strong outcomes data — LEP students graduate at higher rates than the general population.
Curry College
PAL has been supporting students with language-based learning disabilities and ADHD since 1970. Students work with master's-level specialists in small groups and 1:1 sessions, with a focus on developing metacognitive strategies. PAL students take regular college courses alongside all students — full integration, not isolation. Strong for students with dyslexia + ADHD combination.
American University
AU's Learning Services Program provides ADHD and LD students with weekly strategy sessions, academic coaching, and assistive technology training. Set in DC, AU is a strong fit for students interested in policy, law, or international affairs who also need robust academic support. LSP specialists are embedded within the academic experience, not siloed in a separate office.
🥈 Tier 2 — Strong Support Programs
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT)
RIT's Spectrum Support Program is among the best in the country for ASD students, with strong ADHD overlaps. Students in STEM, design, and computing fields — RIT's strengths — benefit from a culture that already values different cognitive styles. Dedicated academic coaches, peer mentors, and social skills programming.
University of Connecticut
UConn's CSD is one of the most fully-staffed disability services centers at any public university. Dedicated ADHD specialists, learning strategy workshops, assistive technology lab, and a coaching program. Strong for Connecticut residents seeking an affordable flagship experience with real support.
Hofstra University
Hofstra has strong LD/ADHD support with individual coaching, peer tutoring, and a structured transition program for incoming freshmen. Close to NYC, making it a strong commuter option for Long Island and NYC families. PALS (Program for Academic Learning Skills) offers structured academic support beyond basic accommodations.
Lynn University
Lynn's IAL program is specifically designed for students with LD and ADHD. Small classes, structured study halls, weekly coaching, and a focus on executive function development. Warm Florida campus with a tight-knit community — often recommended for students who struggled in large high school environments.
Marist College
Marist offers dedicated ADHD coaching alongside standard accommodations, with a focus on executive function, time management, and organization skills. Beautiful Hudson Valley campus, strong business and communications programs. A strong choice for students who want real-world internship access (NYC proximity) with a supportive campus culture.
Indiana University Bloomington
IU Bloomington runs one of the most active disability services offices at any Big Ten school. ADHD-specific coaching, strategy workshops, and peer support groups. Strong for students going into business (Kelley), media, or education. Large campus means more resources — the support office is well staffed and proactive.
University of Vermont
UVM's ACCESS program has earned a national reputation for ADHD and LD support. Proactive coaching model — coaches reach out to students rather than waiting for help requests. Burlington is a small, walkable city that works well for ADHD students who thrive in lower-stimulation environments. Strong environmental science and pre-med programs.
Mitchell College
Mitchell's Bentsen Learning Center provides comprehensive LD/ADHD support in a small, tight-knit environment. Thames Academy offers a structured first-year experience for students who need extra support transitioning to college. A strong choice for students who want intensive support in a smaller setting (enrollment under 1,000).
🥉 Tier 3 — Solid Above-Average Support
West Virginia University
Strong ADHD coaching program and one of the most affordable research university options. WVU has made significant investment in ADHD support infrastructure. Particularly strong for students in engineering, health sciences, and agriculture.
University of Massachusetts Amherst
UMass Amherst has a robust disability services infrastructure with ADHD-specific staff. Strong STEM and liberal arts programs. Five College Consortium access (Amherst, Smith, Mt. Holyoke, Hampshire) expands options significantly.
University of Tennessee Knoxville
UT Knoxville has invested heavily in disability support staffing, including ADHD specialists. Affordable SEC school with strong engineering, business, and architecture programs. Campus culture is welcoming and community-oriented.
Fairleigh Dickinson University

Duke University
Duke stands out among elite universities for taking ADHD seriously. Dedicated ADHD coaches, strategy groups, and strong faculty awareness. Notably, Duke has invested in ADHD research — students have access to cutting-edge clinical resources on campus. Best elite option for high-achieving ADHD students.
Brown University
Brown's open curriculum — no core requirements — is uniquely well-suited to ADHD students who thrive with autonomy and struggle with rigid structure. Students design their own programs. Combined with solid disability services and a collaborative (not cutthroat) culture, Brown consistently gets high marks from neurodivergent students.
University of Denver (Sturm College of Law alternative: DU undergrad)
Beyond the LEP program (#3 above), DU's general disability services office offers strong ADHD coaching for all students. Denver's outdoor culture, active campus, and quarter system (shorter terms = more achievable deadlines for ADHD students) make it a consistently popular choice.
What to Ask Every College You Visit
📋 Staffing
How many full-time ADHD specialists (not general counselors) are on staff? What is the student-to-specialist ratio?
💰 Fees
Is the enhanced support program an additional cost? What does it include — and what happens if your student doesn't use it?
🎓 Outcomes
What is the graduation rate for students enrolled in the support program? Ask for data, not anecdotes.
🔄 Proactivity
Does the office reach out to students who are struggling — or do students have to ask for help? Proactive models work better for ADHD.
🏫 Faculty training
Are faculty trained in LD/ADHD awareness? Or is support siloed in one office with no campus-wide culture?
📱 Technology
Does the school provide assistive technology — text-to-speech, note-taking apps, distraction-free testing environments?
